Last week, the Rev. Al Sharpton began his reign as the host of cable news outlet, MSNBC’s 6 pm evening news show, “PoliticsNation” to mixed reviews. Still, there are few people like “Reverend Al” and fewer civil rights leaders who enjoy such a platform. Rev. Sharpton was featured on the July-August 2008 issue of Gospel Today as one of the “New Faces of Social Justice.” Click here to order.
Have you had a chance to watch Rev. Al Sharpton on his new show? How is he doing? Is it right for ministers to speak out about social justice and politics?

I’m glad for you Al. You deserve this spot. I got much love for the man who was mentored by #1 Soul Brother James Brown. And yes, what better of a man who is a preacher to hold court discussing politics and socialology? He is the man for the job.
I am so proud of my minister/brother and I do my best to not miss the show in order to assure the ratings stay high. As busy as I am with my hectic prelatial schedule I support him where I hope to be as an opionated political voice myself. You go Rev. Sharpton, you have my 1000% support. I hope to be there with you myself one day. Keep going as you represent the voice of Social Justice and the church in one when able.
Rev Al Sharpton, is truly a spokesman for the underprivilaged! I appreciate having him as an Advocate. I commend MSNBC for their forsight in giving Rev Sharpton a platform from which he can challenge the Status Quo!
I have watched Rev. Sharpton on MSNBC and find that his style gets folk to think about the real stuff not only in the African American community but in other communities to look at the African American community differently. Jesus taught that we should do business til He returns. That means that we are not to sit in a church building to get the message of Jesus only to those in the building. We are all called to the market place to assist those who are blind to see the True Light in us. Is that easy? No, but we are called to go ye into all the world. He did not say go with Jesus shirts, big Bibles and large crosses around the neck. He said go, teach. Some people resist until they see the lifestyle one lives in times of trouble. I believe Rev Al has done well thus far and will continue to bring forth the issues with truth. The GOP try to make him look like he doesn’t know what’s going on, but he gets them every time. Let’s stop trying to make Ministers/Preacher someone other than those chosen(?) by God to do His bidding, where ever that leads them, or us.
