Black Broadcast CEO Plans to Launch Faith-based Media Network

Mike Chandler, the CEO of the 40-station radio network REJOICE Musical Soulfood Network, has acquired three 25,000 WATT TV stations which are located in Hampton, Myrtle Beach and Virginia Beach from the Christian-based Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN).
The stations are currently being upgraded/prepared to launch. Once they are operational, they will be owned by REJOICE TV, LLC Television Broadcasting Company, and Chandler will be CEO.
“Our plan is that once we perfect what we are doing, we will launch a national faith-based network,” said Chandler. “We have to become owners. We in the faith-based industry have to do something to recapture our airwaves. We need to own record labels, distributorships, TV stations, etc., and that is what I am trying to do.”
According to Chandler: “Over the past 15 years, African Americans have been losing ground in the area of radio and TV station ownership, as large corporations buy up minority-owned stations across the nation of various sizes and merge them into their networks.”
Amen, Amen Amen on Black ownership in all venues, but even more importantly in our media outlets because of the powerful role that media plays in the life of our young people.
This was demonstrated to me so graphically recently when I went to a career day at a local high school and told the students that I attended college at a historically Black college in New Orleans (Xavier University of course!) and one girl asked me, “Have you ever met Lil’ Wayne?” I was flabbergasted but just demonstrates how powerful and influential the current Hip Hop culture is on our children.
We have to begin to counter the images and culture that current TV, radio and magazines give our children and if we don’t we will lose them.

Hello Mr. Mike Chandler; thank you for your station REJOICE Musical Soul food Network, here in Orlando Florida. Love it we do need black own radio station, TV and magazines. We need to tell the world were our help comes from and it comes from God and who he is. We need to take the people to the next level in God for there salvation.
