Another powerhouse in the forefront of ministry who continues to make an impact in the lives of many is the dynamic Bishop Rosie O’Neal. Her story is one of freedom from fear and shame that has help to transform the life of many. With an unwavering commitment to being real and being happy, O’Neal shares with Gospel Today nuggets that have guided her to success in ministry and in life.
“In the beginning of my ministry,†states Bishop O’Neal, “I didn’t have sense enough to be afraid! I think God shielded me. I started our church with seven people, and now we have about 2,500 In the Greenville location; and our Youngsville location Is also doing well.
[When I started out In ministry], mega ministries were breaking out all over the country, but I just wanted to do a good job with my seven people!
I try to “keep myself myselfâ€â€” I just keep It real. I was caught up In pornography—not before I got saved, or before I started pastoring—but I’m thankful to say that God delivered me! It would be so awesome if God would fix you completely before He calls you, but He doesn’t do that; there’s a humbling that happens. I’ve found that I’m the best pastor I can be when Rosie is as happy as she can be.â€
From the storefront to the forefront, Bishop O’Neal is a great example of how God can take an ordinary life and do the extraordinary.

Bishop Rosie,Thanks for keeping it real. I wish other Pastor’s could be more transparent…
Bishop Rosie, I come and visit your church everytime I go to Ayden, NC to visit my family. My first cousin works at the church and I have just seen him and his family be blessed tremendously just b/c God placed them under your leadership. I still listen to your tapes “Dumb Preachers”, and others. I enjoy the real, but relevant ministry God has put in you. Thanks for being so transparent. God Bless!!!!
How do you explain the scriptures that say “women should be silent” in the Congregation, in other words women should not Preach to men? Who do you represent as a Bishop? I noticed in this article only You are talked about, this is My church, I did this or that. Sorry, I’m finding it hard to accept this story as “True Christian”, well maybe it’s not suppose to be “True Christian”. In my Christian understanding, being a “Follower of Christ” should come before any accomplishment I make and sense when does building a huge Ministry come before making “Disciples of Christ”. When ever I read a story like this, and I read a lot of these stories lately the first word that pops in my mind is “Idolarty” in the house of God. I wonder if your picture is posted everywhere in your ministry and books.
O’ and you should have never been promoted to Bishop according to what you said in this article. No struggling with Pornography after you got saved, are you sure you were saved? So according to Bible standards and qualifications you became a Bishop and Preacher, preaching from what source?
I am so happy in Jesus to see women preaching and teaching the word of God. As a preacher, I realize that we all face life’s struggles. If we are honest with ourselves we all have had and some of us still have secrets that are in the closet (lying, jealousy, backbiting, pornography, adultery). Whatever it is, God can fix what is broken. Storms/struggles are used to propel us forward.
When reading the word of God I discovered that God choose imperfect men and women to fulfill his plan. We must remember that His ways are not our ways. This is what gives us hope that God can use you and me who are imperfect people.
When we look at Jacob he stole his brothers blessing and his heart was deceitful. Nevertheless, God used him to carry out His promise to Abraham. Therefore we understand that the bible gives qualifications for bishops, deacons, etc. but at the end of the day the bible speaks of not judging one another.
Salvation has nothing to do with perfection. God uses imperfect people and I thank God that my mistakes do not disqualify me from living by faith and being called faithful. Our mistakes do not render Gods people as unusable.
Bishop is giving the readers insight to her struggle. But her testimony should set some one free, because Jesus turned that thing, that struggle around.
Wow Bishop O’neal you are a living example of gods definiton of Holy, for we know to be holy is to be set apart. I praise god for your honesty, for the word says we are overcome by one another’s testimonies. I think everyone regardless of age, sex, or creed should remember that NO ONE is above temptation, and satan tries to decieve us into believing that we are safe-and strong enough to withstand temptation on our own. My words of advice is to let the hypocrits continue to think what they may, but one thing for sure is that what god has ordained he will maintain to be able to sustain in times such as this. Love you Bishop and the rest of the KCC family!
